Flower Shows

The flowering season of the Britzer Garden begins with the big tulip show in spring and ends in autumn with the late flowering dahlias. Flower lovers can visit a total of three flower shows. We inform about the respective beginning of flowering, which varies from year to year by a few days or weeks depending on weather conditions, on our homepage or in our newsletter.

The tulip flowering of early varieties from simple to full blossom shapes begins in April, while late varieties in their variety of shapes only reveal the beauty of their opulent flowers between May and June. During the entire flowering period we cordially invite our visitors to explore the different tulip species in our numerous tulip meadows and beds.

By the way, anyone who particularly appreciates the tulip can sponsor one of the numerous tulip fields in the Britzer Garten! Information about tulip sponsorships can be found under Donations & Participation.

Rhododendron and Azalea Show

Only a little later than the tulips, the rhododendrons and azaleas of the Britzer Garden also awaken to their versatile flowering life. Their main flowering time is between May and June. Unlike the tulips, the rhododendrons and azaleas can be found in the specially created rhododendron grove in the south-east section of the park. A highlight of the rhododendron show is the popular Fairy Festival at the end of May.

Dahlia Fire

The brilliant conclusion of the annual flowering season is the late-flowering dahlia, whose biodiversity is displayed on an area of 2,200 square metres. From mid-August, the more than 7,000 dahlias will be presented in lush beds surrounded by grasses and leafy ornamental plants in a natural-looking setting.
